Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about deploying Intervia at your institution — from pilot setup to data privacy.

🚀
Getting Started

What is the free pilot and how does it work?

Every partnership starts with a free 4–6 week pilot. You select a cohort — anywhere from 25 to 200 students — and they get full access to AI-powered voice mock interviews. At the end of the pilot, you receive a detailed outcomes report showing readiness improvements, engagement metrics, and skills gap analysis. There is no commitment to continue after the pilot.

How long does it take to get set up?

Most institutions are live within 1–2 weeks. Setup includes creating your institution account, configuring email domains for student verification, uploading your logo for a branded experience, and giving admin dashboard access to your career services team. We handle all the technical work.

What does our career services team need to do?

Minimal effort is needed from your team. Once set up, your career services staff can log into the admin dashboard to monitor student engagement and readiness scores. Students self-serve — they sign up with their institutional email, choose a role, and start practicing. Your advisors spend their time on high-value coaching conversations rather than running practice interviews.

Can we start with just one department or program?

Absolutely. Many partners begin with a single faculty, co-op program, or graduating cohort before expanding institution-wide. You can configure which programs and graduation cycles are included, and scale up at any time.

Platform

What types of interviews does Intervia offer?

Intervia offers six interview types: General, Competency-Based, Technical, Behavioral, Situational, Motivational, and Stress interviews. Questions are generated dynamically based on the student's target role, drawn from a proprietary skills ontology covering 1,800+ occupations.

How does the AI generate and evaluate interview questions?

Intervia uses a multi-AI architecture. Questions are generated based on job-specific competencies mapped to each role. During the interview, speech is processed in real time. After the session, a separate AI model evaluates the student's responses across three dimensions: response quality (content, structure, delivery, impact), soft skills (communication, confidence, critical thinking), and technical competency. Feedback follows the STAR methodology and includes actionable improvement suggestions.

Are these voice-based or text-based interviews?

Fully voice-based. Students speak their answers aloud, just like a real interview. This is a deliberate design choice — it evaluates communication skills, confidence, and thinking on your feet in a way that text-based tools cannot. It also means students can't use ChatGPT or other writing tools to answer, making assessment authentic.

Can Intervia integrate with our LMS or student portal?

Yes. Intervia supports SSO integration and can be embedded within your existing LMS or student portal. We work with your IT team during onboarding to configure the integration that works best for your environment.

What does the admin dashboard include?

The dashboard gives career services staff a complete picture of interview readiness across their institution. It includes cohort-level readiness scores and trends, individual student progress tracking, skills gap analysis by department and program, at-risk student identification, and employment outcome tracking through post-graduation surveys. Data can be exported for institutional reporting.
🎓
Student Experience

How do students access Intervia?

Students sign up with their institutional email at your custom signup page (e.g., intervia.ai/join/your-institution). Email domain verification ensures only your students can access the platform. No downloads required — Intervia works in any modern web browser on desktop, tablet, or mobile.

How many practice interviews can a student do?

This depends on your partnership tier. Most institutional plans include unlimited interviews for enrolled students during the contract period. Even on starter plans, students receive enough credits to practice consistently throughout a semester.

What kind of feedback do students receive?

After each interview, students receive a detailed feedback report that includes an Interview Readiness Score (0–100), question-by-question analysis using the STAR framework, soft skills assessment across eight competency areas, technical skills evaluation relevant to their target role, and specific, actionable suggestions for improvement. Students can track their progress over multiple sessions to see growth.

Can students practice for specific job postings?

Yes. Students can choose from 1,800+ occupation titles or paste a specific job description to generate a targeted mock interview. The AI maps the posting to relevant competencies and tailors questions accordingly. There's also an integrated job board with real listings powered by Lightcast.
🔒
Privacy & Security

Is Intervia compliant with PIPEDA, FERPA, and GDPR?

Yes. Intervia is designed to meet the requirements of PIPEDA (Canada), FERPA (US), and GDPR (EU). Student education records are handled in compliance with applicable regulations. We provide a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) for institutional review and can complete your institution's security questionnaire.

Where is student data stored?

Data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure using Amazon Web Services (AWS) and MongoDB. All data is encrypted at rest (AES-256) and in transit (TLS 1.3). We offer data residency options to meet regional requirements.

Is student data used to train AI models?

No. Student interview recordings and transcripts are not used to train any third-party AI models. Our AI providers are accessed via enterprise APIs with data training explicitly disabled. Full transparency on AI subprocessors is available for institutional review.

Can students delete their data?

Yes. Students can request deletion of their account and all associated data at any time. Institutions can also define data retention policies, and student data is handled per those policies when students leave your institution.
💰
Pricing & Billing

How much does Intervia cost for institutions?

Pricing varies by institution size and needs. Plans start at $1,000/month for smaller programs and scale for larger deployments. We offer Starter, Professional, and Enterprise tiers — each including the admin dashboard, student access, and dedicated support. View partnership tiers →

Is the pilot really free?

Yes, completely. The pilot includes full platform access for your chosen cohort, an admin dashboard for your career services team, and a detailed outcomes report at the end. There is no payment information required and no obligation to continue after the pilot.

Do you require an annual contract?

No. Intervia offers monthly billing, which means departments can often use existing spending authority without going through lengthy procurement processes. Annual plans with a discount are available for institutions that prefer them.

Can we pay by departmental credit card?

Yes. Monthly plans are billed via credit card through Stripe, which allows most career services departments to subscribe under their existing departmental spending authority. For institutions that require purchase orders or invoicing, we accommodate that as well.

Still have questions?

Our partnerships team typically responds within 24 hours.
